Bugaboo Recalls 18,000+ Giraffe High Chairs Due to Fall Risk

MONDAY, June 16, 2025 (HealthDay News) — Parents, take note: Bugaboo is recalling more than 18,000 of its Giraffe high chairs following reports of the legs separating from the frame. The issue could cause babies to fall and get hurt.

A June 12 notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the legs can detach “if the screws connecting the legs are not properly tightened during assembly.”

This creates a risk of serious injury or even death, the agency warned.

So far, Bugaboo has received 22 reports of the chair legs separating. Thirteen of those cases resulted in minor injuries, the CPSC added.

About 18,280 chairs are being recalled. People who own one are urged to stop using it right away and contact Bugaboo for a free repair kit, which includes new screws and an Allen key to help secure the legs properly.

Bugaboo said on its website that it has already reached out to known customers.

"Safety is paramount to ensure the well-being of our customers and their children," the company stated.

If you bought a Giraffe high chair after May 1, 2025, you don’t need to do anything — the repair kit should already be in the box.

Made in the Czech Republic, the Giraffe high chairs are roughly 30 inches tall, 21 inches wide and 23 inches long. They come in five color options: blue, black, natural wood/white, warm wood/gray and white, CBS News reported.

They were sold between May 2023 and April 2025 at stores like Nordstrom, on Bugaboo.com, and on Amazon. Each chair cost about $380.
